CLIENT: Ianca Museum, in Brăila

The project "Accessibilitation through digitisation of the Ianca Museum's collections". School Workshops for documenting and 3D scanning" is carried out by the Cultural - Historical Association "Muzeul" Ianca and co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund.

The actions foreseen in the project were articulated through a bi-directional approach to valorise the material cultural heritage, aiming on the one hand, to make the available cultural fund accessible through the latest generation of digital technologies, and on the other hand, to empower a new generation of specialists in the field of IT, in the area of design of digital products and services, with a focus on the cultural museum sector.

The 3D scanning and high-resolution photoshooting of the historical artefacts was carried out in-situ, at the Ianca Museum, with the assistance of specialized staff within the institution, under the guidance of specialists from Bulgaria, from the Faculty of Telecommunications and with the participation of a team specialized in photographic documentation. The participating highschoolers and students were involved in all the activities of the workshops, actively contributing to the digitization, processing and communication actions, together with the coordinators and the other partners of the project.

”By tackliong this type of intergenerational collaboration framework, we hope not only to make an innovative contribution to the dissemination of the local heritage in a national and European context, but especially to support, as a whole, the adaptation of museum activities to various presentation and dissemination platforms by exploring alternative collaborative, training and communication models.

Last but not least, we are dedicated in supporting high school education and good practices aiming to protect the cultural heritage. We consider it necessary to introduce interdisciplinary activities in the educational system that contribute to the development of creative thinking among young people. Due to its complex and systemic nature, heritage protection is a fertile ground for practicing skills in this regard.

Once the "Accessibilitation through digitisation of the Ianca Museum's collections". School Workshops for documenting and 3D scanning" project is completed, we hope to have created an inspirational model for other vulnerable museums in small towns across the country”
